I currently don't have a voicemail (which isn't a problem at all for me). But when I did I remember recording and re-recording the same two-sentence voicemail message and listening to it until it had the wrote tone and level of enthusiasm and relaxation. I do a lot of voice work but it made a MASSIVE difference. You voicemail (or anything with your voice) is very much not just the the mere words. I was communicating a very different message than I had intended to until I refined and chisel voice to convey the confidence, enthusiasm, and eneryg I wanted to. Cheers.

Howdy Mike!

If you're a student looking for a serious job you may want to stick with your idea of a female voice saying something like:

“Hey, you’ve reached Michael’s cell phone, please leave your name and number and he’ll get back to you as soon as he can. Have a great day!”

It'll be a DHV for you with women and you can still get away with this professionally if she does it in a half-professional/half-flirty way. I would probably avoid the "he cant get to the phone bit". When it comes to dealing with interviewers, my experience is that it's best to keep your voicemail greeting short and sweet.

And if an interviewer asks who the girl is, I would tell them it's your girlfriend of X years. A young man in a stable relationship can look mature and reliable.

Happy sarging,

Prophet-Do you have any suggestions for college students who need to sound professional? I really don't think I can get away w/anything like the "call samantha" thing b/c I don't have a serious job/career yet, but I'm pretty sure any of that playful stuff would seriously turn off my important career contacts...maybe I could get a girl I'm seeing to record the voicemail for me as a little DHV, but keep it straightforward?

I'm not sure I can get away professionally even w/this, but I guess I can test it and if I get bad reactions from important people then change it. I'm thinking maybe even having her say my last name to make it sound more formal, and maybe adding on a have a great day at the end...I'm also toying w/ "he can't get to the phone right now" said without flirtiness, but that still might turn the wrong people off. Advice?

Howdy guys!

I have a little challenge here for you all: Discovery needs a new voicemail message for his phone. He has just combined his work number, personal number, and VA number and now he needs a new voicemail greeting that will work for all three while still sounding professional/successful/fun and confident.

The challenge is that he needs to say his pua name (Discovery) as well as his normal name. If he doesn't mention Discovery, some students don’t leave voicemails saying they weren’t sure if it was Discovery or not. But he also needs to be discreet about his normal world asking questions about who this Discovery character is.

Anyone up for the challenge? Whoever comes up with the best one gets to decide what I write my next article on once my series on phone game is done (it's 7 parts!).

So put on those thinking caps and lets hear some suggestions!

You know what I hate about voicemail messages? They go on and on, wasting your time. I mean, all they really need to say is, "We aren't in, leave a message." That's why I've decided to keep mine simple and short. I pledge to you, my caller, that you will never have to suffer through another long answering machine message when you call me

Hatter,

I think with the right amount of sarcasm and playfulness, that could be pretty funny. Very unique!
