I just got the new issue of GQ and they talk about hats. The older hats such as fendoras and what not.

But I'm wonder if anyone knows where to find any.
I went to two men clothing stores today and both had nothing.
Anyone know where I can find some real, nice hats?

It also mentioned that in todays times it takes more guts to dress in older fashion. It had a photo of a guy dressed in a suit and fendora hat that looked like it dated 1940s and 50s.
Could that be good peacocking?

what stores did you go to? LIDS has some fedoras as does Target. Any form of peacocking i think would be good peacocking. dressing like the 30s and 40s would proabably get you attention, hence, its peacocking.

top hats though are REALLY expensive. I have a purple felt top hat that my friend gave me (i think it might be part of a mad hatter costume but who the fuck cares it looks pimpin)

You can get into a $100 hat really quickly if you want a good quality hat. I have a tux based black top hat that I bought at a hat store about 10 years ago. I paid a fair price for it, but it wasn't cheap. I imagine you can do well online if you know your hat size. But part of the fun of buying a real hat is having them steam it fit your head right.

I'm a big fan of bowler hats, although I dont own any. And cowboy hats are always fun... I miss living in Albuquerque where that was normal. Around here its a bit much for most HBs and I don't believe in wearing a cowboy hat unless you represent that culture at least some.

I went to two Men's stores that mostly sells suits.

Go to Lids if your in the USA.

I'm lucky, out here in mexico they sell fedoras in a few places and they have some pretty cool styles/colors. I've got 3, getting another in white tomorrow.

I'm addicted.

I've tried several Lids stores near me and their selection is really awful. They mostly have baseball caps. Does anyone else know of any better stores or websites? Also, what article of clothing are you supposed to match the hat to?

Flair, you will probably have to order online.

Check this out (http://www.lids.com/search/fedora?page=1)

Thanks, there's some pretty good stuff there. I also saw this blog:

I'd probably look good in the hat that the guy in the "Layering" article is wearing. I wonder what that kind of hat is called and where I could get it...

Looks kind of like the beanie hat that rastas wear, not sure.

I really liked that article though. Brings up a solid point: It's better to be overdressed than underdressed.

I know there's a lot of people that ask on this forum if it's okay to wear a suit to a club, or maybe it's overdressing in some way. Hell no - that shit is golden.

My last one rocking the fedora:

the mall, or if ya lookin for inexpensive but nice you can check out target.

OR my secret place to find peacocking items...thrift stores and your local salvation army ...guys are scared to shop at these stores...but occasionally they got authentic old ass fedoras, porkpies, trilby's and what not... who knows you might bump into an awsome pendant for your necklace. One time I saw a tiny old key that looked like it was found under the sea on the Titanic. I thought of putting it on my necklace.... And it looked bad ass.... girls would be like "so is that suppose to be the key to youre heart or something" then you could reply "wow...you're cute ...but that was a really cheesy pick-up line" or "do you always say that to guys you're trying to get with?"
