Crossposting System

As far as I know, there's no message board systems that support this, including vBulletin, but a suggestion anyway in case you have bored PHP developers:

Users that post new threads in the VIP Lounge should have the option to crosspost the thread to the Main Forum as well. The reason for this is that many VIP Lounge users may not frequently read the Main Forum, and many in the Main Forum are not VIP Lounge users and naturally may not read the Lounge. This gives me the option of communicating with the beginners or the advanced PUAs, but not both (without manual crossposting). Additionally, the crossposting system should copy all replies made on the Main Forum to crossposted threads automatically to the VIP Lounge thread, and give repliers in the VIP Lounge the option of copying the replies to the Main Forum.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but. Do you necessarily want the non-VIPs posting into a VIP thread? What if, instead, you made select (not all) VIP threads of profound wisdom "view only" for non-VIPs? It would give them a view of the pool without letting them piss in it. Just a marketing thought.

Non-VIPs would only see the version in the Main Forum, and any replies they make there wouldn't be copied over to the VIP Lounge.


Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but. Do you necessarily want the non-VIPs posting into a VIP thread? What if, instead, you made select (not all) VIP threads of profound wisdom "view only" for non-VIPs? It would give them a view of the pool without letting them piss in it. Just a marketing thought.

Well, I'm a bit lost then. You mean the initial post would be crossposted to both places, but the rest would be separate threads in each? I mean, I don't know that I really have much to contribute here, but I'm just trying to envision in my mind what you're wanting. Perhaps I'm the only one who's confused. :)

Yep... I was invisioning a separate copy of the thread created for each forum, and then replies to the thread in the VIP Lounge would be optionally copied to the main forum at the poster's request (reply with quote and copy to main forum would have to be mutually exclusive for security reasons).
