Hello guys.

I recently did some research on how to increase the amount of serotonin released by your brain. For those who don't know, serotonin is the chemical that makes you feel good, and depression is often caused by the lack of it.
Also, if anyone here has tried MDMA (aka ecstasy), the nice feeling that you get from it is caused by MDMA releasing all the serotonin in your brain.

Personally I'm not depressed, but nobody feels awesome all the time, and I decided to try a diet that has heavy amounts of tryptophan (your brain converts tryptophan to serotonin) for a month or so. I consulted a nutrition expert, and she said that eating high amounts of tryptophan can increase your serotonin levels by 30-40% in a matter of weeks with no negative side effects.
Seems like a good idea to me, who doesn't want to feel better all the time?

The foods that have high tryptophan levels are:

Bananas
Pumpkins
Eggwhites
Sesame seeds

There are others of course, but the ones listed above seem to be easy to eat daily, and aren't very expensive or hard to find (like dried atlantic cod).

So, I'll report back here if I'm feeling any more happier/energetic after a couple of weeks of my tryptophan diet, wish me luck.
