I was introducing the Mystery Method to a close friend of mine and we came upon a concern due to the appearance of the VH1 show "The Pickup Artist." The concern was that the MM (Mystery Method) would soon go out of style or efficacy. The reasoning wasn't completely clear, but it goes something like this:
Now that the show is becoming common knowledge to men AND women alike, and thus the technique, more men will desire to use it and act in a certain way while women will be more aware of the technique and will be able to spot potential suitors as they go about their game. The discrete element of the method will no longer exist because telegraphing interest will be noticed as more women increasingly become aware of the technique. The women will say, "Oh he's trying to DHV and neg me so that I'm attracted to him... he must be interested" and therefore not feel the attraction that she would've felt had she not known the technique. Furthermore, as time goes by, too many men will begin to act similarly and thus it will no longer be attractive to women since those men will not stand out - they won't be different than their competition. It might come down to who plays the game better, or it might not considering that women will be aware of the MM. With time, the technique to attract and pickup women will have to vary just like clothing style changes over time.
However, I strongly wish to disagree with this concept. I believe that since the MM has an evolutionary basis (hardwiring to react in certain ways over the existence of humanity), then one could argue that the MM would always be effective. Nevertheless, women knowing about the method is enough to destroy the ability to not telegraph interest because they will identify the technique and thus intentions of the pickup artists. How long before this becomes a reality, I do not know... and I hope it doesn't.
At present, some women have watched the pickup artist show and if one uses those techniques on them they will ask "Have you seen the pick up artist?" or "Did you just neg me?" or "Are you gaming me?" or something to the like. I am not sure how to respond to this without being uncovered and having my intentions be revealed. How do you deal with that?
I understand that using original material will aid in not being discovered. As a matter of fact, I would never use any material on the VH1 show, but rather only the concepts. However, a woman who is able to see through the originality and catch the general strategy will probably raise and eyebrow, raise the issue, and raise the curtains on your attempt to pick her up.
I hope someone can counter-argue this point or come up with a solution. Mystery, Matador, or any of the Masters or Pioneers of the Venusian Arts, I hope you read this and quell the problem. I believe that many would agree that this could be a serious concern for the near future. Thank you.
My greatest respect and sincerity,
