Because human courtship/relationships are way to complex to completely map out in one book, let alone 9 simple steps.

As time goes on there will always be improvements to the current model, and everyone once in a while these improvements will be compiled and integrated into whatever structure that "guru" is trying to sell.

It's weird, I don't quite know what's going on with the legal ownership of the M3 Model and the Venusian Arts Handbook, but Mystery Method Corporation has come out with a new book called Magic Bullets (which seems to me to be a way of distancing themselves from the M3 model) and Venusian Arts Corporation is now coming out with The New Model. Is this a way of distancing the corporation from the VAH or the M3 model because of legal issues?

I don't really care about the legal issues. But I'd really like to know whether this book will do away with the M3 model or simply supplement it by focussing on areas that didn't receive enough attention in the VAH.

I highly doubt that it is an entirely new model. Its probably just slightly different so they can legally sell it without getting their asses sued by MM.

It seems to me the Magic Bullets model by Savoy is pretty much exactly the same as the M3 model.

Savoy's emotional progression model:
1. Open
2. Transition into attraction
3. Attraction
4. Qualification
5. Comfort
6. Seduction
7. Relationship

It seems there are two extra phases that Savoy points out, but in reality, they are actually more of less in the original M3 model as well, just not as clearly emphasized perhaps.

Let's compare the M3 model by Mystery.

Attraction Stage
A1 - Open (same as Savoy's open)
This is the part where you fit in Savoy's transition stage (inherently, it must be present in the M3 model somehow between A1 and A2, otherwise, how does one ever get from A1 to A2? Savoy just spells it out clearly in his book).
A2 - Female to Male interest (same as Savoy's attraction)
A3 - Male to Female interest (same as Savoy's qualification)

Comfort Stage
C1 - C3 (same as Savoy's comfort)

Seduction Stage
S1 - S3 (same as Savoy's seduction)

Relationships
The M3 model teaches meeting a girl up to sex, so I guess sure, Savoy goes to what might be called the 10th phase of the M3 model - maintaining a relationship. But, relationships are meant to come after the seduction stage in the M3 model as well (this is implied), so how exactly, does the Magic Bullets model differ? It doesn't in my eyes.

Aren't all of Savoy's stages pretty much identical to the M3 model? I fail to see any difference. What Savoy does do is NOT introduce a new general pick-up model, but rather, he fills his book with ideas, theories, and such which are not present in the VAH, filling out places where the VAH may have lacked in specificity or depth. That's it.

Someone should write a book about how to successfully transition from selling first editions of self-help books to sequel editions while getting at least half your existing audience to think the second book's substantially more useful and therefore worth buying, even though they pretty much "get it" already from practicing and implementing off the first book. :rolleyes:
