View Full Version : What Most People Do Wrong When Approaching (Style)

When I went out the first night on Mystery's workshop, I tried an experiment. I approached a set, opened, and then DHV'd. [Demonstration of higher value.] And not a single set stuck. I didn't reach the hook point. Everything seemed sort of flat, until I finally just excused myself.
This happened because I had dropped two important pieces out of my game. If you know what they are already, then you are obviously already successful in the field.
The next day, I did the exact same thing, except I added Negs and Time Constraints to the approach. Everything flew open. I was pulling girls off of guys left and right.
So, if you are approaching, but not having success getting in with the set, go out tonight and add negs and time constraints to the first three minutes of your approach. It makes a huge difference.
For those who don't have this material, here's an example:
TIME CONSTRAINT: I can only stay for a minute, because I have to rejoin my friends over there.
NEG: Oh my God, is she always like that? How do you roll with her?
And, a third point, which I've made often. In order for an approach to work in a bar or club, you must enter the set with an energy/fun level equal to or slightly greater than its current energy level. If you walk in not smiling, talking softly, and with bad body language, you're going to get blown out, no matter what you say right.
Hope this helps some people...

I would have to agree with you 110% on this.....
It is critical to have the groups energy and pick up on there vibe as a whole.
I've run into road blocks when I thought I was being smooth about the approach
and found myself in a freeze out from the group....Not Good.
If your not in the right frame of mind. You may want to get your wing man to lift you up with a pep talk.....I helps.......

Just a thought... is a neg required to open a set. The purpose a neg is to make the target have to rise to your social level. You don't neg the rest of the set. So I don't think a neg is required to get into a set.

I agree that a FTC will help to open things up since they think you are leaving soon and thus pay you attention.

I would be willing to bet that I could open up most sets without either a neg or FTC. However I agree that it helps to get things moving. But for any newbs, I agree that using FTC and negs is a great idea. Its also possible that I don't think about FTC and negs but subconciously use them or my body language does.

I think that it's not that a neg is important to open a set, however some kind of IOD is so that you can disarm the group and the target by disqualifying yourself as a potential mate. Otherwise, if they think you're just there to hit on them, they'll shut you out.

As always this is golden advice, and like american express a pua should never leave home without it. Time constraints and negs help usher the rest of the time along until a satisfactorily soultion is made.

when you put out the ftc, do you ever actually leave at one point or just kind of pretend youre not constrained anymore?

well its a false time constraint, it doesn't actually mean you have to leave right away, it just puts their minds at ease temporaily and gives you a window to lock in. Of course it helps if you have a wing to actually show up, not only to occupy the target's friends, but also increase ur social value.

And like matador always says, roll off after EVERY attraction spike, and then if they seem uninterested, open a set right beside them, you are the prize, act like it and they'll all believe you
