Something happened to me that I believe makes for an interesting opener it gets a laugh and helped me open a difficult target that was making me particularly nervous.
In my first class of the day I ended up seated next to a girl named Ashley.
I went to my next class and got the seat in front of the girl I was interested in. I was trying to figure out how to open her. To alleviate my nerves I turned and opened the girl next to me with a simple hello.
She introduced herself as Ashley. I laughed explaining to her the humor behind her name and she points behind her to the girl sitting next to my target saying, "you wont believe this but her name is ashley to."
without a second though I laughed and turned to my target and asked, "Let me guess your name is Ashley to?" to which she giggled and gave her name.
After all of this transpired it got me to thinking that this might be a great way into a really difficult set. Probably more of a day game opener.
Critiques?

Smooth man, I like it haha. Very situational, but that's a good way of starting a convo! completely harmless, with an heir of humor behind it. Props.

Hmmm.... how'd you use it again? Ifeel like unless you have a few different people named Ashley together in one place it won't work, unless you have people playing along with you... How'd you apply this to more than jsut that one situation?

My bad I dont think I explained myself very well in my first post. What happened was in my very first class i sat next to an ashley.
Then in my second class Is at next to an Ashley again who pointed to the girl behind her and said her name was Ashley. So essentially I met three Ashley's that day.
So when I used it a second time the girls name happened to be Katie so I said,
"Your kidding I met a Katie this morning in class," then turned to the girl next to her saying "let me guess your name is Katie to."
Admitingly not as effective as the three ashleys but it got me through A1.
hahahah I apologize for the lack of clarity in my writing (new to forums)

Haha no worries, we were all new to the forums at one point! And ok, I get it now. you use the first girls name, saying you found another girl named that too, then the third girl is who you ask.
Fair enough. That's not bad. I feel like people will eventually catch on because I doubt you meet three people with the same name each day lol. But for starting to get over AA, that's pretty good.
If I may add to it? A good little transition is all. I do some stand up comedy, and my name happens to be very unique, it's Neil. Not a common name, right? I dunno what yours is, but either way you can modify what i'm about to write to fit your needs. In a stand up competition i did, i said something along the lines of this:
"So, I have a very unique name. Neil. It's not common, so my friends decide WHENEVER they meet someone with the same name as me, i automatically have to be introduced to that person. It's like 'Oh, your name's neil too!? You HAVE to meet my friend neil, you have SO much in common!!'...... No.... no we don't... in fact, if anything I'm gonna feel threatened that he's tryin to move in on my territory! I'll be like "I'm a better Neil than him, Fuck that guy", like it's HIS fault he has the same name as me"
Something along those lines. I animate it up a lot, cuz I'm very high energy, but YOU could be like:
"I always feel like when i meet someone with the same name as me, I have to show them up to PROVE I'ma better (your name here) than they are, ya know? like it's a contest or something"..
It could get a laugh, and from there you could transition out into something else.
Lemme know how it works if you decide to use it! :)

I agree it could catch on so I'm saving it for those moments where my approach anxiety is threatening to get the better of me that way I slow down the possibility of playing it out.
HAHAHAHAHA I like that I will definitely try it the next time I use this opener. I think my name will work. Its not to unusual but I have only met one other person in my life with the same name. I like the idea of possibly having her know someone who shares my name which could lead to some good humorous moment.
Ill tell you how it goes thanks for the help.
