I have been reading a lot of material (from style and mystery) but have not actually posted any field reports, since I had not really applied the methods...until today. Any and all suggestions/comments/opinions will be greatly appreciated.

I went to traffic school today and right beside me sat an hb8. There were some flies in the room and the teacher encouraged the class to kill the flies. One of the flies landed on my notebook and hb8 swaped it with her notebook hitting my hand. She immediately rubbed my hand and said "sorry." I acted like it really hurt (with a smile, of course) and afterward paid no attention to it/her.

On our first break, she sat down near the sidewalk and I went to my car to leave a magazine I'd taken in. On my way back to the room I stopped and was like:

me: "what's up reckless-driving girl"
hb: "heeey" (I begin to sit down next to her) "what's you're name?"
me: "daniel...and you are?"
hb: "hb"
me: "nice to meet you" (firm hand shake/light squeeze her hand and she does the same)

We get into some small talk about school/living situation/etc.. Afterwards, I proceed to a hand "magic trick" (?)

me: "have you ever had your fingers locked?"
hb: "what do you mean?"
me: "here, give me your hands"

Trick works. She's amazed. I go on to ask her to pick a number between 1 and 10.

me: "...dont say it just think"
hb: "got it"
me: (acting like it's going to be a hard one to get) "man, it's going to take me a while with you."
hb: "haha"

We go back in and at our second break/lunch break I was able to get her number.

me: "hey we should hang out afterwards."
hb: "yeah, we should"
me: "here" (I hand her my cel phone) "let me get your number" (She saves it in my cel phone.)

We go back in and at the end of class she had to leave because her ride (parents...she's 19)was already waiting for her. I tell her to wait.

me: "let me see your hand" (she gives me her hand and I take out my pen and ask her if it's alright that I use it on her hand...she approves...I write a number 7 on her hand) "That was the number"
hb: "oh my god! how did you know?!?"
me: "I'll tell you when we hang out later this week."

Well that was it. Let me know how I did. What I should do, where I need more improvements, etc, etc. Much appreciated.

Cool post. Kudos on getting a number close.

I'm no expert but I think the only thing that could have backfired was the number close itself. It seems that you specifically asked for her number, but if I remember correctly, the better way is to set things up so that she volunteers to give it to you. After all, what if she had said no?

I think Style used some sort of line like "I have to go now, but I have enjoyed talking to you, is there some way we can continue this later?". Which hopefully leads up to her volunteering her number.

But I'm sure there are much more experienced and wise PUA's around than me. I'm still living in AFC land.

I think #-closing isn't really the line. A girl WILL give you her number no matter what you say, if you've done other stuff right. I've tried Style's line and frankly it doesn't make much sense to me. Probably works for Style becuase of the way he talks.

My friend told me a long time ago this line "We should hang out, you should give me your number" I changed it to "Give me your number" Quite simple...Don't just demand it but say something like "I enjoyed talking to you, give me your number and we'll talk later" Do this mid-set though. Don't eject after #-closing, that's important.

Honestly though, #-closing is easier if you don't pressure yourself about it. It was my sticking point for a minute.

The other night I was hanging out with this girl who wanted to hang out with my friends and I so much. She said "I want to hang with you guys can I give you my number?" I said to her "nah take one of ours, let's be honest, we won't call you." Heh. Then I went on to say yeah "you can't have mine but take my friends." This wasn't a pick-up persay but it was just a funny way of number closing.
