Hi All

I thought to lose weight the best way is to exercise at a high intensity, but if you swim you can really speed up the intensity so why is it a good sport for fat burning?

Back in my teenage years I trained as a swimmer for my local club. Technically you are using more muscles throughout your entire body than any other workout. So in some aspects it is a good sport for fat burning because you are using more muscles. Back in the day it would take about 1.5 hours of endurance training to get into my fat reserves. But I was training competitively.

Saying that, loosing weight is different to fat burning. The key to loose weight all revolves around negative calories & faster metabolism.

Yes, swimming is best exercise for burning fat quickly. Regularly swimming is helping to reduce body weight and tone body in right shape. It is also very good for blood circulation function.

Swimming is the very healthy exercise.. Its burn the extra fat of the body which makes man perfect body shape..

Swimming is a kind of exercise, which is good for all movement of joint and body parts. It is best for burning fat in summer season with making your body temperature cool. Do it regularly, you will reduce weight quickly.

Swimming is one of the best and t he effective exercise for fat burning. Most of the people to burn fat prefer to do swimming as it is very effective and beneficial. With the fat burning it is best to make your body flexible. Swimming is best to burn fats.

Swimming is one of the best and the effective cardio exercise, swimming is very much effective as fat burning. By doing swimming a person is able to burn fat.

I prefer to do swimming exercise more for getting great physics as well as loose unnecessary fat from body. This type of exercise is very good for making strong the joints of hands and legs.

Wow youre all loving swimming, but then how much should you do?

I thought to burn fat you had to do interval training or long duration (above 1hour) cardio, so do i somehow have to swim for an hour each time or something?

ps: ive googled but cant find any resources on training, fat burning and swimming, anyone got any they can kindly share please?

Fat burning is a misnomer. As eaglering said, it's about caloric deficits and metabolism. It revolves around glycogen stores, and those are depleted first in your muscle. You don't simply burn fat from exercising, it is a mix of exercise (which can be broken down into many types), and diet. Swimming is predominantly a metabolic conditioning exercise, that is it boosts the metabolism in the body since all the muscle groups are used, and some more than others depending on the stroke. So yes you can make a case that swimming is one of the best forms of sports that is useful for fat burning.

But just throwing out a concept out at you. Do you think Football players just play football to get into shape? Basketball? Hockey? I'm not going to pull marathon runners, but Olympic sprinters? If you have time to go swim to the point where you are hitting the "fat burning" mark, you're better off committing some of that time into also some reading about metabolism. And since you are probably not an athlete, you don't necessarily need an intense workout regiment to achieve what you want.

Swimming is the best exercises to reduce the weight there are also so many benefits of swimming like you can maintain the body fitness and blood pressure so swimming is the best for the human health.
