View Full Version : A question on peacocking
I just finished the beginning section on peacocking in 'The Mystery Method'. I was sitting trying to think of a good way to work it for me. I used to play college football and I still have an athletic frame. Would getting nick and bulked up again be a good way to peacock? I think it would get me looks but would it be enough for that standout, 'the man' look? Any advice is appreciated!
Some tight jeans, and some nice shirts is always a starter.
Test clothes with different colors that make you stand out of the crowd.
And maybe buy some rings.
I got 2 rings on my right hand, and everytime i'm out a chick tries to neg me for it and says: "Why are you wearing rings? It's strange."
Remember, you need to feel comfortable with what you're wearing.
It's easier to express confidence then :)

my advice is to not get caught up in peacocking. follow adde's advice and just look comfortable. rings are the farthest i will go, maybe a bandana sometimes.

I like to wear cool shoes. I have a pair of checkerd vans (see Spicoli in Fast Times) and I'm thinking of getting some green or red chuck taylors. I always get opened up at parties when girls complement them.

Matador told us that Bodybuilding can beat peacocking...but it depends on the girls.

Adde nailed the most important part. You just have to be comfortable with what you are wearing and it has to be congruent with your personality. Remember, the reason for peacocking is to gather attention and to give women a reason to approach you, so it has to work for you. Go through the wardrobe you allready have and try to pick out the more flashy items, then just get things in a similar style that you could wear comfortably.

no one is giving you that useful of advice... :( Don't get bulked up, I mean do if you want but do it for you not for girls. To be honest physical appearance doesn't matter a whole lot. Also bulked up guys usually get stereotyped pretty badly as the dumb meat head. If you have a more built frame get some good fitting clothes a nice button up that is interesting a good watch, necklace, nice jeans, good shoes, If you have a gym membership put the membership card on your keychain and pull out your keys when you talk to girls and see if they ask about it. Then talk about your athletic days and staying fit. hell to be honest you might even want to go more of an intellectual look. Might be good to go for a brainy look if you have the physical braun to attract a broader range of chicks. But just keep in mind don't work out for chicks work out for you because most chicks honestly won't care. It is your actual game that matters.

You might find it useful to read the article on the Venusian Arts Blog on bodybuilding. If you're wearing a collar shirt over a t-shirt, experiment with how many buttons are done up. It can completely change your shape. My general rule even before I knew about peacocking was "go for the opposite of what I think I should be wearing". If i thought I should wear dark I wore bright and colourful. The important thing though is picking clothes which fit properly. Then one interesting item. It doesn't have to be something huge and in your face but it should be reasonably visible. My wing generally dresses in quite a standard way, his only bit of peacocking is a programmable LED belt buckle reading "My Face is up here" with and arrow pointing up. It's still being field tested as a concept but it's definately getting him lots of attention. Ideally you'll make one or two focus points in your clothing. It might be an interesting Tshirt which your overshirt defines and frames. It might be and interesting pattern on your trousers (Pants for all the Americans out there) If you've got complicated fancy boots wear simple trousers to highlight them. Generally speaking don't be afraid to experiment with a number of different ideas until you find your own look. Case in point I've had a mustache and goatee for the last three years, I've shaved the goatee off before (didn't like the look) yesterday I shaved off my mustache (I can always grow it back if I want) so far I've been told it opens out my face a bit and feedback has been generally positive especially from the LTR.

Like others said, you want to avoid the meat head stereotype so I would stay away from sports jerseys/Ts.
Sure, bodybuilding will help, but you have to come off as more than just muscles.
