What's up guys? First, I would like to say that this is the most intense training regimine I have ever done. I have done a shit load of different workouts (I was recruited to play Division I College Football, I run track and field, and was an avid bodybuilder for a long time) and let me tell you this is by far the best workout I have completed. If you've ever seen the P90X infomercials then you probably thought the exact same thing I did when I saw it, "Yeah right, 90 days my ass." But trust me, try it and you won't regret it. I looked into P90X to get into modeling shape (I was 6'1" and 182 pounds) and after the 90 days I was a incredibly defined 170. If you can stay disciplined enough to follow the nutrition and workout plan for 90 days, you will be in the best shape of your life. Not only do they have the hardest ab workout you will ever do, they have plyometrics and advanced weight training exercised to hit parts of your body that normal weight lifting can't. Not to mention my 100 meter dash time went from an 11.7 to an 11.1, I increased my vertical jump enough to be able to dunk! O, and I became a model too! And I would like to thank the P90X makers for helping me achieve what I thought I could never do. This is proof of what you can do through hard work and perserverence. Happy sarging fellas!

I agree with everything you say p90x is amazing. However it simply can't be done correctly in a college dorm, which is what I was in when I first attempted to do it a while back. I had finished 30 of the days at my summer house, but was let down when I found out there was no room to do it when I moved into college. However the first 30 days were enough to get me in the absolute best shape of my life! And later in the summertime I restarted it and finished it. So 10/10 product. Buy it.

One of the students in the dojo came in talking about P90X. In Aikido you do billions of reps of abs and core work outs. The P90X ab work out kicked my ass, and it did it in 16 mins. Within a couple months of doing it I have the strongest core in the Dojo and in Aikido that is the most important thing.

Hell yea, ab ripper x is intense! I started P90X again on Monday and I couldn't do all of the abs on Monday but got all reps of everything today. It's super intense, do it for a few weeks and you will get that "V" that all women love. O and Rodehard, I was thinking about taking Muay Thai lessons. What's the difference between Aikido and Muay Thai? I took boxing for a few years and competed and did really well but want to move onto something more intense.

I never studied Muay Thai, so I don't know. But Aikido is an art all to itself. The thing I like about it is the lack of effort it takes to perform Aikido once you have a good working knowledge of it. For example on your birthday you have to do each attack and each defense, 1 rep for each year of your age, once with each student. So on my 45th Birthday last week, with only 3 people in class, I had to do each attack and each defense, left and right side, 3 x 45 x 22 forms.
There is a point when you are so tired that you want to drop, but then your Ki takes over and you begin to flow. Once that happens everything seems like its in slow motion, and because you are not forcing the moves but letting them flow, you stop exerting stop sweating and just relax. It is beautifl to watch.

What is Aikido like? Is it more of a defensive martial art?

Yes, but its also more lethal than most arts.
Aikido is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on. This requires very little physical energy, as the aikidōka (aikido practitioner) "leads" the attacker's momentum using entering and turning movements. The techniques are completed with various throws or joint locks. The first night I studied Aikido a 90 lb 16 yr old girl took my 27 year old 6'3" 230 lb ass and with no effort flipped me mid air and pinned me to the floor. Aikido is what Steven Segal and Jeffrey Donovan,( burn notice) pratice in their shows.

I'm not a fan of P90x. Tony Horton actually made some arrogant comments to me (and I returned in kind...genius move eh?)
My post on it is here

Hmm, I'm going to have to try and find a sensei around here.

http://www.usaikifed.com/ has a directory.
In Aikido everything is done from "hara" one's center of mass, and the location of the Ki. When you live life from this place you have a state of calm that nothing can disrupt. This adds a ubber-DVH most guys will never have to your game. For example if you read the post through out the forum they all say AA is unavoidable, but if you have a strong center, you do not have AA nothing disrupts your calm.

Nice, how were your results after the first 90 days? Are you a member of beachbody.com?

I loved it I don't have the exact measurements of my results (Lost the pages) but I could tell you that my body did grow much more and everyone did notice. I went from being a skinny kid to having my girlfriend that couldn't keep her hands off lol. Needless to say she like it. The best part is you feel great about yourself I STRONGLY recommend it. And I was only doing the work out there's a nutrition guild but I couldn't keep up with the cost of the food lol. But that guild is worth the money alone. Buy it; it would change your life.

Good read. Was not aware of this feud.
I think alot like you when it comes to fitness. With one caveat, i tend to do a moderately high carb level. It tends to work for me and those i know.

I just tried the Ab Ripper X for the first time, and it kicked my ass. Doing crunches regularly, my first thoughts were, "this isn't so bad." At the end of the 17 minutes I was sweating bullets. I took my shirt off and had a visible six pack. Can't wait to try out the other routines!

p90x is definitely a good program, though I've stayed away from it trying to get in semi shape first.. I'm 29 years old, did 2 days of p90x then spent 7 in the hospital close to kidney failure with something called Rhabdomyolysis
careful with the program guys, I'm not saying its not a good program cause it is, but its capable of hospitalizing you.. I used to be in the army didn't even think I was over doing it make sure you spend lots of time hydrating etc..

3 days in now and I'm already seeing. I HIGHLY recommend this program for ectomorphs. For once in my life my arms are actually looking bigger.

Just finished my 90 days of P90x. I'm taking a week off and doing P90x+. Keep up the good work man and at the end of 90 days you'll be glad you did.

I just wanted to reiterate the excellence of p90x.
I had my Achilles tendon severed playing basketball (a 200-lb guy landed on my tendon when I went up for a rebound) and I was bed-stricken for over three months after the surgery. As a result, I gained forty pounds. After my tendon healed, I saw the p90x infomercial and it reminded me of my days playing varsity sports where we were worked so hard during pre-season that guys puked. I was like, "Awesome!" So I ordered it but was skeptical--I mean, it was off an infomercial. But I stuck religiously to the 90 day program and lost all forty pounds. I got my first ever six-pack. I also felt like I had cleansed toxins out of my body. And I felt stronger in mind because I stuck with it.
There are no gimmicks or gadgets but just simple, good ol' fashioned push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, free weights, cardio, and cutting out the triple bacon cheeseburgers. One day is resistance on a muscle area followed by the hardest abs workout you'll ever do, next day is cardio (no abs), next day after that is resistance on another muscle area followed by those hellish crunches, next day after that is a different cardio (no abs) and so on with a day off (or optional stretch) on the seventh day. After three weeks you have a recovery week of light exercise, and then the next month is a whole other new set of intense exercises. The variety of exercises (even yoga, which is damn hard but fantastic) keeps your mind stimulated and your muscles confused so you avoid plateauing.
The only thing is you gotta buy some free weights, a yoga mat, and a pull up bar in addition to the program. And you need to have a doorway to hang the pullup bar on. Also, each exercise session runs anywhere between 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours, so it takes a time commitment. Totally worth it, and if it's important enough, you'll make the time. There's also a food journal to keep, and a simple plan to follow that will change bad eating habits. To this day I eat better because of p90x (it helped me to understand food better), and I make exercise part of my daily life-style--it's like brushing my teeth now.
As long as you commit to the 90 days--even if you feel like shit or you have a craptastic workout, whatever, but just keep pressing play, keep pressing play--your resting heart rate will go down, you'll be cut as hell, and even your vertical leap will increase (it increases your athleticism). DEFINITELY recommend this program. Man, now I'm sounding like a damn infomercial. But it's such a life-changer.
