I never knew if they all did that or not but my x didn't douche b/c she says it washes away important, uh, internal stuff. I guess she just stayed hygienic in other ways. Since I never discussed it with any of the others I wondered if that's common. What's the word on the street?
My ex never douched that I knew of - I would say it's not a big deal unless maybe she's got a yeast infection or some other nasty thing like that...I could imagine where douching could be beneficial in such cases.
The vagina is a self cleaning device as it is. Douching helps but its not as important as you think. If an odor does begin to bother you then have her douche. (This is the first time in like a month that Ive said douche in a serious manner, which is kinda weird)

My favourite word: douche bag! I've never used one and I'm no gyno but I hear they aren't good to use because it strips the vagina's natural bacterial culture and can spread infections. Plus the vagina is able to cleanse itself internally.

I only knew 1 girl who did that, and her vagina wan no better than other's. As long as she is a clean person in general, what is there to get hung up on here?

Women douche because they mistakenly believe it gives many benefits. In reality, douching may do more harm than good.
Most doctors and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) suggest that women steer clear of douching. All healthy vaginas contain some bacteria and other organisms called the vaginal flora. The normal acidity of the vagina keeps the amount of bacteria down. But douching can change this delicate balance. This may make a woman more prone to vaginal infections. Plus, douching can spread existing vaginal infections up into the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
The only time a woman should douche is when her doctor recommends it.
Most doctors say that it is best to let the vagina clean itself. The vagina cleans itself naturally by producing mucous. Women do not need to douche to wash away blood, semen, or vaginal discharge. The vagina gets rid of it alone. Also, it is important to note that even healthy, clean vaginas may have a mild odor.
Regular washing with warm water and mild soap during baths and showers will keep the outside of the vagina clean and healthy. Doctors suggest women avoid scented tampons, pad, powders and sprays. These products may increase a woman's chances of getting vaginal infections.
If a vagina has a bad odor, you should call a doctor right away. It could be a sign of a bacterial infection, urinary tract infection, STD or a more serious problem.
Douching does not prevent pregnancy and should never be used as a means of birth control. Actually, douching may make it easier to get pregnant by pushing the sperm further up into the vagina and cervix.

If the vagina doesn't clean it self, I will :)

glad you guys got the low down on this...kind of like a self-cleaning oven?
not something I'd want to actually ask the person I'm with. Incidentally, there don't seem to be as many tv commercials for those type of product anymore, if any. More women must have wised up.
That made me think of another thing...
What to do if she has "leaky plumbing"? I don't want piss in my mouth even if it is sterile. Maybe I had a bad experience. :)

leaky plumbing? wtf?! just stick to girls under 60+, that aren't hobos, and you should be fine.

seriously, I have met a 26 yr old who told me she had leaky plumbing. I don't mean it was as bad as a geriatric person would be...I don't think it was since I never went down there with her. So apparently pee happens. I mean, it's right there in the same area, is it not? Chances are a little could happen at the um...wrong time, right?

I think you were just with a special case. Have never heard of this before.

It's called Bladder incontinence, and Kegel exercises help prevent it while also increasing her likelihood for a G-spot orgasm and control of her vaginal muscles (yummy, the vaginal grip of death).
Everything you need to know about bladder incontinence.

I'd say bladder incontinence would make a woman smell very pissy, so if you have a pee fetish, you might feel at home.
