You want to go out in a good mood. In fact, you want to be in a good mood in general. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you exercising? Are you happy with your current situation? We humans operate on a hierarchy of needs, with health and security having a higher priority than sex, so it's natural that you'd be less interested in meeting hot girls if you're unhappy with something more fundamental. A good indication is how you feel when you first wake up. If you're ready to pop out of bed in the morning and eager to get started with your day, not only will you have better success with women, but you'll enjoy better reactions from your boss, family, and other people in general.
I recently read a professional endocrinologist's (hormone doctor) take on this who argued that this good mood to meet people is improved by testosterone and oxytocin (the 'social' hormone), and hurt by cortisol. The effects of these levels are pretty significant. Testosterone is involved in dominance, sexual arousal, and competition, and can fluctuate significantly even over the course of a single evening. If your test level is high, you will act dominant and as if you have high status, and if it is low you will tend more towards submissive behavior and exhibit low confidence. It has even been shown that girls prefer the scent of a man with a currently high testosterone level. Cortisol is the stress hormone. It tells your body it needs put all of it's energy into surviving , rather than competing or mating, and it has an inverse relationship with testosterone. A man in a room of men he perceives as "above" him will experience a rise in cortisol and a drop in testosterone, and he'll naturally act 'beta'. Oxytocin is a hormone that is involved with social bonding. It's released in huge amounts during an orgasm, and in smaller amounts during any positive social reinforcement. Oxytocin reduces cortisol, and so indirectly helps raise testosterone.
Obviously it's essential to keep your testosterone levels high, to be stimulating the oxytocin release and to keep cortisol low. Some ways to raise testosterone include a good diet, weight lifting, and getting a lot of sleep (long term). More immediate measure include looking at a pictures of hot women, listening to fast-tempo music, or competing in a sport (or even a video game. Halo anyone?). A really novel tactic to raise test levels proposed by this doctor involved a game where you trade blows back and forth with your wing. You will trade off making a fist with both hands, and hitting each other with both hands in the chest on the pecs hard enough to make a "thump" and trade these blows back and forth. Make sure you both hit the same amount, don't overpower your wing our you'll actually lower his levels. Although I can't help but laugh when I picture two guys hitting each other in the chest back and forth, grunting, and acting like angry gorillas I have to admit I feel my state improve just thinking about it. As far as oxytocin is concerned, a simple way to raise it is to go out with a larger group of friends. Even one wing can make a noticeable difference.
I got almost all this info from a post by "Chris" in the Albq lair forum, I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it.
Feel free to share methods that have worked for you.
