Well searching the web, reading every forum tying to suck up all the information that I could. I convinced a friend to go out with me to travel and try some of this stuff. Since I'm in Germany and near a military installation the clubs/bars are limited and after a week of sarging. ( in the area) We are worried of over doing it. We are going to be traveling to Heidelberg/Germany.

With notebooks packed with inforamtion, web site print-offs and just the fact of wanting to learn more and try. I feel my friend and I will be quite successful.Though I don't want to get my hopes up yet. We are bring a tape recroder and a video camera so maybe if you guys want we could share with you how everything goes. So don't be to harsh if we boggle some things or just mess up haha. :)

And Silver.. you give quite good information so im expecting some good notes from you! haha. :)

Wish us luck!

When I was a kid, my aunt bought me a book on rock climbing. I fell in love. Before long I read every book in the library about climbing, mountaineering and knot tying. I scrapped my money together and bought what little gear I needed, and found a place to climb.

Wednesday night. Right after school. I booked ass on my huffy over to a small cliff by the freeway. I put on a pair of rubber shoes from a discount store, and started my climb.

I never made it off the ground. It was hard. And nothing in my books explained why I was failing. But I was. Neighbor kid stopped by and saw me struggling. Showed me a few things, and spotted me for awhile.

I was climbing.

Not because I read how. Because someone showed me how.

Don't mistake book reading for knowledge.

Embrace failure. It's how we learn.

That was nice :).

Although not entirely correct. You need a solid foundation of basic theory before you can even understand what you're doing. But I agree - unless you go out and practise it, and see what it feels like for real, you'll never 'know' it.

That's awesome.

Don't forget to have fun while doing all of this. The outcome is so irrelevant it's not even funny. By just taking the initiative to go out and become better at meeting new people, you're already way ahead of the curve. Just remember to leave a girl or two behind for all the AFCs. Nobody likes a selfish person ;)

if i were you, i'd just take the adventure trip just for the experience

yeah, pick-up chicks on the side but make the traveling the main attraction, you get it?
