Mystery & Discovery – Sydney Bootcamp – May 15 to 17, 2009
Thursday evening (pre-seminar):
Arrived in Sydney Thursday the day before the seminar and upon checking emails was quickly in contact with Discovery to organize the events that are due to unfold. Email came through from Discovery sometime during the day to come and hang out with Mystery that evening while they check out a few clubs.
Within 30 minutes of entering the club – to check out the venue – the party swarmed towards us as Discovery skillfully worked sets with Mystery. It was not a matter of doubt but more a matter of how quickly you can work the room, the party was with us! The priceless moment was Mystery & Discovery sharing their knowledge by whispering into my ear about what they were doing and various different tactics. The party followed us right through to the adjacent venue. Mystery successfully attracted the tallest, most beautiful woman in this venue that from a distance I saw the other men in the venue continually DLV’ing themselves to her. Totally priceless evening.
Day 1 (Seminar):
Registration for the seminar began at 11:30am but the room begun to fill up a lot earlier with a number of students attending the bootcamp for 3 hours/1 day/2 days and the full 3 days. The overview of the game and the general implications of the game were artistically delivered by Mystery.
A few of us joined Mystery & Discovery for lunch, these quick small sessions is where the enhanced value of attending a bootcamp take place; little conversations on general and specific topics.
The model was explained in great detail even with the average times for each section etc. Following the general structure of PU and some sample openers we were given the opportunity to practice via role playing. Discovery gave instruction on general body language skills and helped the students work on delivery and goal setting for the evening; Discovery was honest and at times blunt which was a benefit for our development.
Day 1 In-field:
Following on from Thursday night, we returned to the same venue – full of beautiful women mind you – we all entered in little groups to avoid ‘cock-farming’. The students (including myself) saw all the instructors demonstrate the material with us; all the other students were amazed. It was neat to have Mystery in your ear and egging you on, “recover soldier, live in the now, next set next set!”, “Wreck the room, who cares! Practice practice practice”, “Did you hug her?!” – Good times.
Day 2 (Seminar):
The morning begun with red eyes, red bull and a debrief session. This session gave us the opportunity to reflect back on what was an awesome night infield with the masters. We identified commonalities that allowed us to focus on areas where we need to improve.
The afternoon was detailed with more and more routine examples and deeper understanding of each section of the model. The variety of canned material being shared allowed the students to gain a greater degree of confidence in understanding the model. Discovery continued to help us by getting us to practice role playing with each other, giving tips along the way. Both Mystery and Discovery helped us set higher goals for the infield session that evening.
Day 2 In-Field:
We went to the cross to a club filled with 8’s & 9’s. This session was great and frustrating at the same time; the demographics of the club restricted moving sets to the “VIP” seating area that Mystery & Discovery had organized for the evening. It also made “cock-farming” the more obvious which didn’t help when trying to open sets.
I often felt a jab or kick in the foot and quickly realized that Discovery was trying to get my attention to demonstrate routines and certain gambits – I was amazed at the delivery that Discovery had…..unbelievable. It was interesting blowing yourself out of sets and wrecking the room as it only taught you more and more about delivery. By the end of the night….am I in set? Yes? Ok ok have I FTC’d and negged the target?? Nope:eek: …better do it…now have I DHV’d? Nope, ok run a story or routine and then get ready to LOCK IN! :D
Day 3 (Master Level Breakout – Day Game):
Discovery delivered this session following the debrief session from the infield adventures the night before. The students understood how certain sticking points are a commonality and just a learning curve.
Interesting session, the past two evenings was gut wrenching, but Discovery revealed that we had been practicing game in harder than usual venues. Day game seemed a lot easier in terms of time constraints and the overall time constraints – in most cases real not false – it was fair to say that the Day game inspired a new profound level of confidence.
Delivery, delivery, delivery…if you have sudden amnesia, just remember delivery is key!
Day 3 (Master Level Breakout – Hired Guns):
This session was delivered by the Master…Mystery. As this is his passion it was amazing the information that Mystery shared with us. He not only took the time to break down key routines so that we could write them down that would allow us to practice them straight away, but he explained all the subtleties of each behavioral cues that we may experience.
“TRAIN FOR THE PLAYBOY MANSION!” – Theme for the session
Summary:
Personally, I enjoyed the little small talk times having a smoke with Mystery (I think I was the only smoker – Lucky me). I learnt lots from just those 5 minutes while puffing away. To be taught personally by Mystery and Discovery was a privilege, having them whisper in your ear infield…totally awesome!
The bootcamp was worth every cent paid….and then some! Not only do you meet great people and learn the art of pickup, you get taught strategies and tactics that allow you to really have Jedi mind control game pieces.
Mystery & Discovery as a team….good mix!! Discovery has this high energy, playful with great expressions, delivery and humor! Mystery, the cool, intriguing magician and just perfect delivery, together they made a great team to learn from both, it allows the students to have the ability to integrate the two to develop a nice balance!
To be taught by them personally and to get advice from them infield was worth the investment. The amount of knowledge gained and the opportunity to attend other bootcamps was a nice surprise.
Thanks guys, good times...You will be seeing more of me! :D
