Tang's Day Game Diary 2009

Hey all,

A mate and me are going out sarging on Saturday. He's not super-into the community, and I'm mainly bringing him along so he can give me a bit of in-set feedback.

I've personally tried implementing pickup about twice now, and I started getting more things right the second time. I'm still using a fair bit of canned stuff to open sets or neg, but am still able to talk relatively freely most of the time.

Try as I might, I have been unable to find any really good day game in-field footage, apart from crazy feats like AFC Adam's 1-minute kiss-close and super-speedy number-close. I'd like to see a model of a day pickup that I can use as a template, if anyone knows of any footage.

I'd also like a bit of a game plan, so I can at least illustrate to my friend that I know what I'm doing and that I have a plan for the day. At the moment I don't have much of an idea.

I know that I'd like to start with some newbie exercises, as I haven't done any day game at all. I'll probably have a bit of approach anxiety, although not too much, so I'm planning to do the "walking up to girls, saying 'excuse me, I think you're cute' and walking off" AA-busting exercise.

After getting into the groove, I'm obviously going to lock into sets (is a single person called a one-set, or just a girl? :)) and see what happens. My main task is going to be keeping the conversation going rather than it turning into boring topics like school. I'll try to remember some stories from my life that I can offer, so that I don't have to rely on asking her questions.

I'm really eager to find one of those bitchy, model-like girls who walk confidently around, sure in the knowledge that they are extremely desirable. I'm looking to open her with my own twist of a DYD line, "I'm going to tell you something no one else has told you before. You're not fooling me. You have this persona, this image of a popular bitch, but I know you're really just a little girl playing dress-up. Now come the hell over here, sit the hell down and let's talk about some stuff... *smile*". I'd like to see how these really popular girls react to this kind of alpha talk. If I could find this kind of situation, I'd be golden and could work on interesting threads and kino. I'm still not feeling totally confident about the structure of a day pickup though. How closely does it follow the M3?

Also, how exactly, apart from the DYD opening, should you start a conversation? I know that a lot of the masters get away with just saying "excuse me, do you know where to find the cinema?", but that wouldn't fly with me, as I say it to randoms often and haven't gotten any action from it so far. My mate and I are meeting at his house to look up some routines off these forums. What should I recommend to him to get him started? I'm thinking of going over a few basic principles of attraction, and give him a couple of openers. Any other thoughts?

I'm kinda floundering here, because I want the day to go well. Anyone who would be willing to talk it through with me via IM should send me a PM so we can organise it.

EDIT: I'm turning this thread into my day game diary, and I'll post updates on how the days go. I'd love some recommendations for good openers for high school-age girls. I'm also trying to get some of this filmed so I can get a proper critique. Thanks a lot for the thread move, Azazels. I like your opener. Have you read my meta game article? Could be useful if your wing tries to AMOG you. As for infield footage there was some great stuff posted here earlier today... can't remember the website.

Thanks a lot, glad you like it. Of course, most of the credit goes to David DeAngelo. I just combined two of his lines and added the final sentence. I'll give your meta-game article a look definitely, although I doubt my wing would be cocky enough to try any AMOGing.

I'll have a look around for the in-field stuff.
