As some of you may know, Style held a conference last week (June 22 - June 24) in NYC for his students. Having attended both the conference and boot camp, these are my thoughts about both products.
The one thing to bear in mind in this review, I have done my best to stick with just the facts. We have all seen bad reviews before of people trying to convince a product was great by saying things like "OMFG! YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS!" That is not my goal, I am here to give an honest report.
Conference ($1250)
PROS
Wide Variety of Topics - There were several key things I thought were interesting and would have benefited students at any level. These were things such as illusions, full body massage techniques (w/ live demonstration), and club promoting.
Small Group - Originally, people believed a great amount of students would attend. The number was capped at around 40.
Great Food - Since the first day (Saturday) was largely spent teaching at a major club w/ restaurant, high quality meals were served here.
Intimate Atmosphere - It was interesting that Style chose to teach at the lower level of a club for the first day of the conference. Overall, it was a comfortable and close setting.
Free Gifts - Those who registered got a travel case filled with massage oils, information about the conference, and handouts for notes.
Privacy Maintained - Like the Annihilation Method, there was a camera crew every step of the way. However, they were more than respectful at making accommodations for those who did not want to be filmed.
New Material From Style - There were several routines that Style shared with us that were meant to be kept a secret. Having seen the Annihilation Method, it made me happy knowing Style was teaching new material.
Individualized Attention From Style - This is by far the crown jewel of all the pros listed. Because there was such a small group of people, everyone got personal help from Style through things like vocal and posture exercises. Style would walk through the group of students and specifically find those he felt did not get enough attention.
What completely blew my mind was the personalized fashion critiques Style hosted at the end of the conference for students who wished to be critiqued. Ultimately, it was an identity/sticking points/ and fashion consultation with Style and his coaches. Originally supposed to last only 2 hours, because there were a large number of students who wanted this help, Style and the coaches worked overtime by 4 hours! Every student got in depth, personalized feedback (even those at the end, I was second to last).
CONS
Amount Of Knowledge Overwhelming - Because there was such a great amount of material Style wanted to go through, some presentations felt a little rushed. Several students had their heads spinning trying to take everything in. If you do not have good note taking skills, a lot of information would have been lost.
Rehash Of Old Material - If you have seen the Annihilation Method, there would have been parts of the conference that at times would have felt redundant. However, this was more than supplicated with the pros before about the unique presentations and Style's new material.
Club Setting View - The seating arrangement of the club made it a little difficult at times to see the speakers. However, it was never absolutely horrendous.
Boot Camp ($950)
PROS
2:1 Student/Teacher Ratio
VIP Treatment - I am not sure what is typical of boot camps, but driving around the city to clubs in stretch hummers was definitely an experience.
In Depth Debriefing - After each night of sarging, the coaches held great conversations and reviews of each student's performance for the night.
Privacy - Just like the conference, the boot camp was filmed as well. They were mindful of privacy.
Flexibility/Communication - If a student's set ran really well, and were bouncing to another location, coaches did not mind as long as they were told. They did their best to make sure no man was left behind.
In Field Support - When students had issues in field, whether approach anxiety or other inner game demons, the coaches stepped in to remedy the situation. Even when students thought about ejecting politely, coaches would push them to capabilities most did not know they possessed.
CON
Disorganized - The wing assignments and missions of the night felt a bit unstructured. When you think about it though, social dynamics is the same way. This was the first boot camp I had been a part of, I was not too sure what to expect.
Overall:
Before the conference started, Style threw a party in a hot club that many students had a great time at. What many did not know, was that the women at the party were coming back at the end of the next day to be a part of demonstrations on calibration and cold reading.
An incredibly valuable part of their return was the personal feedback they offered to guys of the night before. Many students learned a lot from what the targets of the night before had to say of their game.
The one thing I will never forget is how Style stayed afterwards for four hours with his coaches to continue the personalized fashion critiques. They all could have easily left, since the conference was technically over. Some may say that Style started the Academy all for the money. I absolutely refuse to believe this. After seeing what he did for all the students during, and especially after the conference, one would be crazy to believe this. For everything that was offered at the conference, he could have easily charged $5000 (the current price tag of Boot Camps taught by Mystery).
In conclusion, I would highly recommend these two events to anyone who gets the chance. Many strong friendships were formed between students and coaches. Students from every level learned a vast amount of knowledge at the conference. I have never met a guy as caring or helpful as Style.
Peace,
