View Full Version : New PUA Chat Room
Sovereign

In the spirit of making this community more of a community rather than a splintered group, a new PUA chat room has opened up for any who wish to drop by and chat about anything on their minds. This room generally has several well qualified PUA's around to answer any questions and to engage in any discussion. And ALL are welcome, whether you are with MM, VA, GWM, RSD, Juggler, etc..etc..etc. As Harley says, one love, one community.
While I am a technical idiot, I can tell you that the room is on
irc.chatspike.net (6667)
and the name of the room is #lifestyle. I believe it is reached easiest on IRC.
You can also reach it through: http://www.lifestyleimaging.net/chat.php
Stop by and say hello!

... and we wonder why we don't get laid more.
Just kidding!!!!!! I think the chat room is a great idea.
Don't flame me. Just a joke.
I could just see someone saying, instead of spending time on a Forum or Chat room, why don't you spend some time out in the field.

TheBoss,
Funny. And you're right. Although this chat room allows for us to really create a community feel. Meet new guys to wing with, get and give great advice, just hang out, etc. And from what I have found, guys in this room WILL push you to get your ass off the computer and out into the field.
This is a great idea.
Now aPUA's can ask questions to their heart's content.

Must be something you are doing with IRC, the room is operating fine. Are you going to chatspike?
Btw, thanks to everyone coming in, the room is great!

Alright, there seems to be some confusion, so I figured i'd put together a little document on what IRC is and how to use it with conjunction with #lifestyle.
IRC is Internet Relay Chat. Its a chat framework (but different from AIM, MSN, ICQ, etc) that has been around for awhile to get people to collaborate over the internet. It is organized by:
IRC network -> IRC server -> room on server -> people in room.
So, in the case of our room, we are not part of a larger network (to my knowledge)
Server: irc.chatspike.net
Room: #lifestyle
You will need to use an IRC client to connect to the IRC server and being chatting. Most computers do not come with one pre-installed, so if you have not previously installed an IRC client, you will likely have to.
List of some more popular clients:
Windows:
mIRC
irssi
xchat
Mac OSX:
Colloquy
Linux:
irssi
xchat
do a google search with the name and the operating system (windows, linux, mac) and you will find the website to download one.
After it is installed, you need to configure it to connect the IRC server, use the details I listed above to do so.
For the following example, I will use irssi, since its my client of choice.
*Run irssi
at the prompt, type:
/server irc.chatspike.net
after it connects to chatspike, you'll want to set you "nick". This is the name you will display in the channel for others to see you as. As I am 'rockdon' on VA forums and MM forums, i use 'rockdon' in the irc channel. To set my nick to rockdon, I simply type:
/nick rockdon
Now that I'm connected to the server, and set my name properly, I can join the room, do so by the following:
/join #lifestyle
You will see some names scroll by. In irssi, anyone with a @ symbol infront of their name is an OP or operator. They are the rulers of the channel and can set the topic line, kick and or ban people from the channel if their behavior is not acceptable. People with a % symbol are half-operators and have some of the functionality of an operator.
In #lifestyle, @Sovereign and @Aural are ops.
Sovereign or Aural, can one of you post the rules to the channel ?

These are the rules from our hosting network, chatspike.
* This is a net for the people, and your suggestions matter. Please talk to an op on #chatspike if you have any suggestions, please dont be afraid to ask!
* Don't be lame. This includes threatening or abusing people, flooding, spamming asking to be an oper and other things too. These Activities Will get you banned from the network, and/or any involved channels dropped, closed or forbidden at the opers discretion. Bitching about such bans won't improve the situation, and only succeeds in annoying us more.
* The decision of IRCops is final. We reserve the right to disconnect you at any time without reason or warning - remember IRC is a privilege not a right!
* Any problems, go to #chatspike and ask an op.
* Be nice to the people around you and have fun!
* This network and its owners/staff are in no way responsible for the actions of users on this network, in any way shape or form.
* By connecting to this network you agree to all terms within this message of the day, regardless of wether you have read this text, and agree to any sanctions taken against you for violation of the server/network rules. If you do not understand these terms, you should not use this network.
* We do not condone law breaking of any kind and (where appropriate) will take measures to eliminate any such behaviour on our network. All Responsibility for such actions lies with the channel owner (where one exists) or with the channel operators. Examples of such behaviour which will usually cause instant removal from our network include but are not limited to:
o Trading in anime licensed in america (e.g. where its copyright owner does not condone its use)
o Creation of hacking or credit card trading channels, or xxx password channels
o Creation of pirate software (warez) channels where the copyright owner has not abandoned their claim to copyright on the titles being traded
* The ChatSpike administrative staff may change these policies at any time, at their discretion. You are expected to regularly read these rules and keep yourself informed about them.
Channel Specific rules:
Play nice. This channel is meant to be a supportive environment. Trolling, picking fights, and things of that nature will not be tolerated.
Using #lifestyle to transfer or negotiate the transfer of illegal material or copyrighted material is forbidden.
It seems like a great idea, a chat room for the comminity. I will think to this on my forum as well as my web site, great idea. Saves me a lot of money!
Cheers,
Rich.

Rockdon,
THANK YOU! Very concise, nice going.
Btw, Utah, Maverick, Grin, M2 are also ops in the room.
And as far as the rules go, as long as you don't troll or act like an idiot, everything else is pretty much fair game.
Hope to see you all there!!

I'm technologically retarded: BUT, I did find that there is an IRC plugin for Firefox... NO NEED TO LEAVE THE BROWSER!
Fullly functional, fits in the tab, cuts down on number of programs running and thusly, processing usage percentage as well as RAM and HD Memory.

So for the next 2 days we're waiving the obligatory "sacrifice" of one of your hb's to the staff (ie: Me, Sov, Grin, Utah and M2)
Cheers.

I got this when I tried to log in help needed
This server has anti-spambot mechanisms enabled.
Malicious bots, spammers, and other automated systems of dubious origin are NOT welcome here.
Error : Closing link (TROJAN@cable.ubr05.dals.blueyonder.co.uk) [G-Lined: () was found on a DNS blacklist (AHBL), For more information visit http://www.chatspike.net/?p=dnsbl or email akill@chatspike.net]
Disconnected from irc.chatspike.net
Not greatly technically minded in this area, but from what I can understand isnt it a good thing in regards to the first line that I have got anti-spambot and why should I be DISCONNECTED because of it?
I visited the help but got lost along the way (ADD)
Any help please

your address was found to be on a DNS blacklist. A DNS blacklist is a list of address that are found to have malicious acitivity either recorded or suspected of being transmitted from.
Do a google search on "DNS blacklist AHBL" and you should be able to find some resources to have your address removed from the list.
Hope this helps

Honestly the last thing a PUA needs it to get stuck in a chatroom. It seems to be a Paradox. Maybe once in a while if I REALLY NEED a question answered.
But then again all the answers I need, I've already got just by either searching around or looking at the book. Or more experience.

Dynamism, relax bro. It's not mutually exclusive. You can chat, and get out of the house to. Some chat at work, some chat at night when they are finished going out, some just don't feel like going out that night...and you know what? That's ok too....it's all ok in the new PUA chat. Come join us, forever...and ever...and ever...and ever.....

Ja, I forgot to mention that I've been there. :D
I think I'm biased against chatrooms that much because I used to be on one A LOT back in the AFC days. I cringe just thinking about it.
But I realize this isn't/doesn't have to be the same. ;)

in for quick little visit.
For real. The last time I was in there I believe we were talking

IRC is so annoying, but I'll try it out. I'll check in once in a while until I figure out how many people frequent it!
In the mean time, we've started a small PUA msn group with about 15 members. I'll tell everyone about the irc channel, and if anyone wants in the MSN group, add me:
xn1tr0x@hotmail.com
And I'll forward the email list and send the group invite.
TTYL,
Nate
P.S. Chatzilla seems okay. Need to figure some stuff out though...!

Well if anyone needs to know anything about IRC just let me know. Also BTW I'm usually in the room at all times but sometimes even I need to do things like sleep, go places, etc. But you're all more than welcome to chat. I hope this really goes well. If IRC doesn't work out theres many other things I could try out like Flashchat or something.
Oh and if you need a good IRC Client: Icechat works great for Windows. For Linux I would use XChat.
Icechat you can get at http://www.icechat.net Its very easy to use IMO and its free. No trials or any of that crap.
