read the bottom part on rcmp what do you think

my folks tell me to try it out since we have a cousin who married a cop, and he said its good money, government job. i have a diploma in business and a certifcation in IT ,but never used in obtaining a career. i have tried but nothing. i couldn;t get a job in these fields

i like to hear your thoughts. would any of you guys do rcmp as a job or go into it. if so why or why not. i like to hear your reasons. be it too dangerous , not my thing, to i like to do it b/c its helpin the public, and good government job. would you do rcmp soley on the fact its a government job and the pay is very good 45k first yr and 80k after 3 yrs.

what it like being a rcmp. is it hard to get in. what do they look for.
is it like a slack job. do you just drive around a lot and go to tim hortons and hang out. is it very slow and u just watch dvd movie, and listen to ur ipod or is it a lot of work and fast pace and can be very dangerous work

would u see ur self doing rcmp or cop and would ur freinds see u doing it . why or why not

just like to hear some opinions and thoughts

I can't even find the words to describe how disgusting this is, let alone the fact that no one was punished for this. (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sWmue9ixN00)

The Vancouver Police have a history of discrimination towards Polish and Ukranian's ... it goes way back.

Anyways, this isn't a really relevant topic, but somewhat interesting.

Anyone who will do service for the community in sacrifice for personal freedom is a hero to me.

But, I must say "rcmp" was a difficult acronym to follow at first. I was reading it as "rural county mall police" which makes no sense. Near the last paragraph I realized it was the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Having said that, one of my wings is a police officer for the U. S. Army (not MP). I introduce him to women with it as a DHV and he downplays it because he thinks most women are intimidated that he will arrest them for being drunk.

One thing I can tell you is that working for any government entity, you will not get rich. Staying single, living frugally, and investing wisely is the only way to get rich on the government docket.

You get rich by running your own business and making that business run well and profitably.

As to rAFCs remark about guns. I own firearms. They are a tool. They do not add nor take away from my manhood.

meh, people list law enforcement as one of the most admired careers - b/c they watch a lot of TV.

In reality, most cop work is protecting your pension by avoiding discrimination lawsuits, then filing endless, redundant forms on what activities you did that day so your department doesn't get sued - and can then place any potential blame [and legal liability] upon you.

It may have been a rewarding career once, but now it's deteriorated as governments see fines as effective methods to balance bloated budgets.

I love alliteration.

Just for the record, I sit on the board of directors for America's Wounded Heroes. We provide initial support and guidance through the red tape for military, EMTs, fiefighters, and police officeers of the United States who are injured in the line of duty.
