AS far as I know, its an old stage magician illusion.

What you do is you can buy this little pens and cellotape them to your nail - or if you are very light if hand, you can use a real pen.

Whilst you are engaging the girl, the hand you are holding it in- you are writing the initial on. We have a magician in the Irish Lair who does such gambits.

Watch the video again and you will see how this is done.

It's a mentalism trick. You can purchase a "boon writer" or "nail writer" that lets to write without being seen. I've not seen the video you're talking about (I'd like to), but you can pretend to write down a prediction, keep it secret, and then write it after she reveals whatever you're looking for.

There's also a thing called a "Super Sharpie" for doing it with a Sharpie marker. You can find it at penguinmagic.com. If you're familiar with Derren Brown, he uses it in a market where he "predicts" the amount of money people have in their wallets.

Yeah... anyone have a link to this video?

Also, the device you guys are talking about is also called a swami... I have one... it's really hard to write with and takes a ton of practice... I like to do coin vanishes with my raven... only 1 trick per set is my rule.

Personally, I just use REAL magic, not the fake stuff. It works better.

Would you mind sharing this REAL magic with us Style ;)

and here is the vid: http://www.dallaspua.com/video_mystery_shittests.htm

EDIT: I have figured out how he does it, its not magic at all, when he says Who the hell are you... she mentions her middle name... listen closely ;)

Real magic? As far as I'm concerned, that doesn't exist.

If y'all haven't seen it yet, look up my post from a few days ago on how to use magic in PU. I feel you can do a little more than one trick per set, as long as you're not being all needy and stuff.

I'd say that qualifies as real magic! Perception is reality, I suppose.

A swami gimmick is any device used by a mentalist or magician used to covertly write information down for the purpose of creating the illusion of precognition or telepathy. The most common Swami Gimmick is a nail writer or thumb tip writer. These are small pieces of pencil lead that are attached to the finger or thumb with glue, a fake finger cover, or pushed under the finger nail. They are used to write while holding a piece of paper in front of a spectator after a question has been answered and then showing that the piece of paper held the correct answer all along.
These gimmicks are used by famous magicians such as Banacheck, Criss Angel, Marc Salem, and David Blaine. It is possibly one of the best cheap gimmicks for mentalism of all time.

Here is what mystery does:

- Has piece of paper and pencil in hand

- Asks her to think of her middle initial

- Acts like he is writing a letter down "Think of it... this isn't some psychology thing... it's just a fucking guess"

- She eventually answers "R"... at this point, watch how he is holding the paper... his thumbs on the side facing him.

- Swamis are really hard to write with, and you have to create time to write what you need to clearly... he asks the question "What are the statistical probability of me getting this wrong?" to stall.

- Presents it to her, and it looks like he has already written it.

Can Matador or Lovedrop verify the authencity of this user?

The last few posts by "Style" look weird and not congruent with his 'perceived' persona.
