What do you think of them?

For those of you who like them, would you wear them for day game as well as night game, or do you think they're better suited for one than the other?

Those shirts are used in PUA2, I like.

If you want to look like a clone PUA soldier, wear one. It's almost laughable now to go out and see 80 percent of the guys in a club or bar wearing one.

It's key to be an INDIVIDUAL. Wearing one of those is, I think, try-hard. Not saying you can't practice PUA and even succeed, I'm sure plenty of guys who wear those shirts get laid. They just look a bit silly. Women have said the same.

Wear clothes that make you feel good, confident, and an individual sense of style...that will make you stand out from the rest, not blend in. (Yeah I know, wear peacocking items with the affliction shirt to differentiate yourself, is what I'll hear....)

Be different from the inside out...that means inner game, and what you are wearing.

Having said all that, if you like the shirts, go for it. Just look around when you do at all the other skulls, crosses, dragons roman numerals on guys' backs, and as yourself if you think wearing the same thing helps or hurts.

I totaly agree with Hooter. It's important that the person wearing the shirt feels comfortable wearing it. If you have a slight insecurity about what you're wearing, you will be better off camouflaging with the others. If you can wear a pink shirt, a food stained shirt, etc. and be comfortable wearing and have no insecurities about your looks it doesn't matter what you wear. If the Affliction shirt makes you feel like you are cool, you will act cool, and be more comfident buy it. Peacocking with hats, scarfs, shades, rings, necklaces, light-in-dark, and so on will also look "try-hard" Mystery looks "try-hard", but it works, he can also pull it off with no peacocking because he has the comfidence and is able to open sets with ease.

Mike Long? I saw a picture of him once, and though I don't remember it that well cause it was a long time ago, he looked like kind of a geek.

There's something to be said for congruency with the clothes you're wearing and he person you are, and what you do for a living.

I'm going to look different from at least 90% of those guys wearing Affliction shirts because I don't have a rock musician look just because I woke up one day and thought it would be cool to get an Affliction shirt and a leather wristband. So many PUA's want to look like something they're not. I am a rock musician and am in the process of getting a band together. I have long hair, as long as Mystery's hair or longer, and if some girl sees me wearing rock 'n' roll looking clothes and asks me if I'm a musician, I can honestly reply that I am.

Before Affliction t-shirts got popular though, I could rarely go to a mall and find any clothes that fit the image that I like to show. It's become a lot easier for me over the past year or two to go shopping and find clothes I really like. Everything was so much more conservative a few years ago that there really weren't that many choices of cool clothes to buy when I went shopping as there are now. They were few and far between.

I tend to agree with Hooter and Royalty in their points. The Affliction shirts, at least where I live, are REALLY overplayed by guys who want to be "hardcore" at something be it music, MMA, or what have you. So for me, wearing one wouldn't stand out enough for our purposes. Now if you live in east bumblef**k and no one has them, that would be a different story.

As far as congruency goes, I think Royalty is right. I am also a musician (saxophone, learning guitar) so it kinda bugs me to see these guys dressed like Tommy Lee but can't tell a high hat from a guitar pickup out after chicks. Then again, it does make them easier to AMOG :D

Check out Metropark here (http://www.metroparkusa.com/) for some good stuff that's a little different than the Affliction shirts. They sell them as well as some other good brands. An Ex of mine turned me on to it and I've bought a few things from there and I'm happy with the results so far.

I think to many guys where the affliction t-shirts and I go to the club to see the same clothing lines written across everyones shirts. It was cool but it's kinda boring now if you ask me. Watch this video and understand why I feel the way I do about this...

That video reflects exactly what I said. Joe Rogan is wearing a Mickey Mouse T-Shirt from WalMart and his pants has a crotch stain, but it doesn't make any difference. He is comfident and has no insecurities, no matter what he is wearing. He AMOG's people who wear affliction shirts to feel cool, while he feels cool no matter what he wears.
You want people to comment on what you're wearing, because it opens sets, but don't act offended, take it with a smile because you wear it on purpose ;) Know what to say when people comment on what you are wearing.

Affliction sucks. When they first came out, I thought they looked decent because it was something a bit new and fresh (and I train MMA). Now everyone under the fucking sun is wearing one of those shirts. I wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Rogan making fun of Affliction shirts is kind of hypocritical considering how many of the UFC fighters wear Affliction shirts and he's the color commentator for UFC and has never made a joke about anyone's shirt. I doubt he gives a guy like Randy Couture any sh*t for looking "ridiculous" in the Affliction shirts he wears.

all of what you guys said sounds true but if affliction is such a turn off, then why did the guys on the Pick Up Artist Season 2 wear them? Mystery must have approved the makeover to let them wear it in clubs.

I just think people all look silly in the club wearing the same cloths. I mean I've worn some crazy sh*t in my day. I'm just saying I saw like 15 people wearing the same shirts last week at the club. Guys and Girls it is just a fad not worth the money. You can pick up a hot chick in a t-shirt, jeans, and leather jacket. Save your money!

Dude who the hell really knows? Maybe they got money from that I dunno. You might notice that the cloths didn't get them laid. They just helped them start that mental change in routine from dressing like a little kid to becoming their own person.

I thought Affliction was cool over a year ago, now they are everywhere and everybody has them. Even big guys, and Affliction looks stupid on big guys! Not to mention the umpteen different Affliction like knock-off's out there. Hell WWE wrestling now has it's own Affliction like shirts.

I would never wear one of those shirts. It would be like another guy wearing a uniform, same thing with the Abercrombie or Hollister uniforms. I look around the club and its all I see. I don’t even understand how guys could be getting ready to go out and say “I’m going to dress up tonight” then reach for one of those t-shirts. It goes with out saying that you can wear anything if your game is tight, so I’m not talking about that. But it’s just another thing out there that I see and immediately think “douche bag.”

And you know what? I’m just going to come out and say it, and you can disagree with me if you like, but I think they look like shit anyway. I have stretched out hole covered shirts with neat-o art work and paint splatters in a bag in my attic from ten years ago. Maybe I should try to sell them for 80 or 90 bucks a pop. I’ll call it “Erection.”

Afliction probably was either approached about using their clothes or suggested it themselves. If you noticed... EVERY one of them had affliction stuff on.

That being said, if you want a place where they sell good clothes (that you don't see EVERYWHERE) then check out Metropark.

IMHO Affliction and Ed Hardy are overpriced and over played. There is some amazing clothes out there that you can find, if you just look for it. You don't really want to wear stuff that everyone wears. That said, if u like it, you thinks its worth the high tags, and it works for you..fine...but I personally never recommend the stuff.

AS far as PUA2...my understanding is that the producers bought a load of Affliction and dropped it on the show. It was what THEY thought PUAs wear. LOL. It wasn't the coaches picking the stuff.

When we take guys out for style consults, we have had luck at Vintage shops (like ReMix in DC), Nordstrom (can be pricey), DSW for shoes, Express (I'm wearing their jeans right now), etc... I like Jon's belts/buckles at jonwye.com. I've also had luckon ebay. Search the message bases for recommendations of good websites for PUA wear...cuz we have discussed it before. And, check out this image blog: Kinowear.com.

yeh seriously, does it really matter if everyone wears it or not? who cares... your appearance (peacocking) only gets you so far, its your actual game that wins the hb's over... i follow mma, im a big fan, and i always wear affliction when i go out to the bar, or even a tapout shirt, and its awesome because its so easy to AMOG some stupid wannabe AFC who wears affliction shirts, especially the signature shirts, when they have no idea about mma or what thay are really wearing... usually i ask them if they are gonna watch the fight over the weekend, and when they ask "what fight?" ill say which mma fighters sig shirt they are wearing and be like, "your wearing his shirt" and then start laughing, or smile to a hb and give her the funny eye roll like "this kid is clueless"... which shows the hbs in the set that hes like every other afc in the bar wearing the "trendy" clothing to fit in... and then continue to AMOG him from there... hasnt failed for me yet...

First of all your appearance does matter, that’s why we talk about it. While it’s true that your game is what really matters it is obvious that there is importance in how you dress, if it didn’t matter we wouldn’t have a whole section to the forum dedicated to it.

As far as your AMOGing goes, I very much so disapprove. You “AMOGing an AFC” is not what we do, we win the group over, not make fun of guys cause of what they wear or don’t know. That’s just being a jerk. The whole AMOG concept comes into play when a guy tries to push you down in set. The best way to AMOG a guy that is low value or normal is to HELP HIM, teach him something, or introduce him to a girl your passing one, what ever. Get every one to love you. Don’t forget about the ghost and the flame, the ghost is you being unaffected (which your not, because your reacting to his shirt) and the flame is burning a bright light of positive energy that everyone wants to be attracted to and feels warmth from (which your not doing buy putting guys down). Besides, like you said, who cares what guys wear, right? \ Basically from what I can tell, you’re a UFC fan, that wears affliction shirts, and makes fun of guys for not wearing the right shirt the right way, doesn’t sound like someone I’d want to hang out with. That’s exactly the kind of thing that we practice beating in set “Dude, why do you paint your nails black ha ha ha (eye roll)” or “dude, what’s with that shirt ha ha ha (eye roll).
Sorry, but that’s just real. It may work for you, but that’s not very congruent to the way we operate here. Hopefully I’m just reading it wrong. Best of luck

Nothing really spectacular most of my buddies dress up allot but I've always played it low key. Somehow I always thought by being under dressed and out with a bunch of guys looking like ballers made me stand out. I dunno how effective it was because tonight I rocked the suit and just killed it. Yet I still think affliction t-shirts are not very appealing. Go wall-mart or go silk suit.

The Affliction shirts are getting old, but it doesn't matter if that type of shirt fits and compliments the RIGHT PERSON with the correct body type. Someone wrote earlier that big guys look wrong in them, and that is so true (God, that ultra skinny noob guy on the MOM dvd's looked atrocious.

I alternate between a good tight fit dress shirt, and an Affliction type shirt, depending on the occasion. I do think however, if you must wear jeans, make sure they are ALWAYS wear designers--coincidentally, I feel Affliction makes the best kinds. lol.

Yhea, you did clear up what you were trying to post. But you still don’t understand.

First off, I’m not trying to “win’ a girl, I’m getting a girl to be attracted to me. I’m not in competition with the other guys in the set. They are who I talk to first, win them over, show them respect. If the other guy is trying to gain the girls attention, and I am there why the hell would I spend any of my time trying to compete with him? He is an after thought; the girl will take care of that for me. She won’t be interested in him; she’ll be interested in me! That’s it! That’s all it takes. There’s nothing he is going to say to me that is going to win her over. He’s not going to say something smart ass to me and cause the girl to say “WOW! You really showed him, now I want you to take me home; you just totally changed my mind.”

If your game is tight, the most you’ll have to do is respond to an AMOG comment casually (which usually the best way is to not respond at all) and move foreword with your game. If you have built enough attraction she will blow him off, just like if you do a cold approach and don’t know what you’re doing, and get blown out of set, that will happen to him. It’s not your job to worry about men.

Yes, sometimes AMOGing is necessary, but it isn’t usually the time to put a guy down, the best way to AMOG is to build a guy up. If you’re the guy that decides weather or not someone is accepted or not then you must be the alpha male. For example if a guy is wearing an affliction shirt in set and tries to impress the girl and intimidate people around him by saying that he’s an MMA fighter. I would say “Yhea man, that’s really cool. That takes a lot of discipline. Respect to that man.” And give him a hand shake. You have just set the standard that you are the guy who decides who is cool and who’s not. You made him feel good, and everyone around you, and made your self look good. Not to mention that telling someone something like that will make him yours for the rest of the night.

Look, this is all pretty basic stuff, and there are hundreds of lessons on this. I’m not making up that ghost and flame philosophy, it’s tried and true, ask anyone who’s been on here for a while. I’m just saying, learn your game and be awesome to everyone. If you already have great. If not good luck.

That's a really great point. People who need to put others down are usually feeling negative about themselves too. People who bring others up to them as equals are implicitly high value and secure with themselves, which are alpha characteristics. And this action in turn makes others feel good and disarms them, so in this case it will put an end to the other guy's AMOGing attempts.
