i was in a bookstore today, dressed business casual and doing some work. A beautiful girl, wearing all black, came and sat a few tables away from me. I gathered enough courage, grabbed a random fashion book for a prop, and opened her with an opinion opener. I said I had a friend who needed this book cuz he broke up with his gf, and I wanted to give him advice on style to meet new women. She answered that I should just give him advice myself without the book. That was an ioi. I asked if she meant I had good style? She ageed to that. Then I made the mistake of insulting her when I meant to neg. I said: "that just shows that you don't know anything about fashion if you think I'm dressed well". I was dressed well though. It was meant to be a neg and self deprecating humor at the same time. But instead I saw the smile disappear from her face, and could tell that she didn't want to talk to me anymore. Watch your negs guys!

Yeah. Also, if she is already warm/receptive and giving you IOIs, you might want to avoid negging altogether, since there is no bitch shield to bring down. Negging when negs are not necessary basically results in over-negging, which often results in her getting pissed off or feeling bad.

Never make fun of yourself. Have you ever seen James Bond laugh about him? No. But don't worry, I did piss off a girl too last night... Everyone make mistake, just lear from it!

But I don't think you really pissed her off, I just think you just made her lose interest in you by lowering your value, after she IOI'd you. She probably said "Oh here comes another one...!"

If she only gave you that IOI (no hair touching, no doggy dinner bowl look, etc), wait until you she give you more IOIs before giving yours.

Thanks, it makes sense. However, James Bond doesn't do other things that PUA's should do -- such as smile a lot, open sets, sarge, etc. I recall Lovedrop discussing this analogy on Mind Of Mystery. Someone asked him whether PUA's should act serious like James Bond. And he replied that James Bond is a fictional character, whereas Mystery if real and has fucked many high-class women. Hope this makes any sense....
