i ve come up with a list of the best watches on the market for coolness factor and what the best-sellers are and what price range they are in i have included different styles and varieties depending on how you peacock and some of them are quite cheap but still look good (the price range are in british pounds as i live in the uk check their american counterpart websites)
from cheapest to most expensive

Fossil (£40-£250) i like the automatics

police(£40-£200)

swatch(£50-£120)

diesel(£60-£200)

citizen(£90-£600) i recommend the eco drives as there no need for a battery

seiko(£90-£650) automatics are nice

Nautica(£125-£400)

Tissot(£180-£500) the t-touch is really cool

dreyfuss&co (£250-£500)

hamilton (£290-£900) all automatic

oris(£400-£2000) all automatic

longines (£400-£3000)

Omega(£1000-£3125) i personally like the seamaster and speedmaster buy the co-axial if you can afford it

and finally breitling(£1725-£4150)

i havent recommend 2 obvious choices for a reason tag heuer and rolex,

tag heuer because i spoke to a jeweler friend of mine and they said the tags have become worthless because too many people own 1 and if it came to the point where you wanted to sell them you would get much money for them and its expensive to repair.

rolexes are the most faked watch on the market and alot of people cant tell the difference and theres nothing sadder then to be seen wearing a fake rolex even if it is real how are you going to convince them its real!

There are a zillion other brands out there.. i.e. that list goes up and up as long as you care for it to go, depending on how much $ you have and what you like...

Not to nitpick, but some of your price ranges need to be expanded. :) For example, some Breitlings go for a helluva lot more than £4150 -- I saw one in Vegas a few weeks ago for $33K USD, and I'm pretty sure there are some that are even north of that figure. Not that it matters to any of us...

A lot of breitlings are also cheaper than 1725quid.. Breitling is probably one of the most overrated watches ever.. use the same generic movements as those found in $400 watches but cost 5x as much.

You are certainly entitled to your view... but they are still fine watches, unique jewelery, AND instruments for professional aviators. Also, they have oustanding service and warranties.

One could argue that a Toyota, for all practical purposes, has everything that a Mercedes has. But that's not the point of owning a Mercedes.

I'm just sayin'. ;)

I don't wear watches anymore. I am always where I want to be, and will leave when I'm good and ready.

Amen. Plus the time is always right there...in the car, in the gym, on the oven, the coffeemaker, the microwave, the dvd player, the alarm clock, and of course the cell phone.

Watches truly have become redundant jewelry for the most part except for specific uses (diving, workouts, etc.)

Watches are jewelry...they're fashion accessories, not timepieces.

Nixon Rotolog... not because I need to know the time, as several of you point out above. I've already got my iPod and my cellphone telling me what time of day it is. No, I want to get me a Nixon Rotolog simply because I think it looks awesome : )

Fossil has an interchangeable thick watchband that can be made to match leather wristband on the other wrist. It cost 40 for the first set, and additional bands are 20 bucks. Fossil stores have the best selection. I can change the band depending on the peacocking gear without having to buy a whole new watch each time. I've gotten many compliments and women opening me based on the watch.

I wear an ESQ... It has a really similar look to a Rolly or an Omega, solid stainless steel construction and MSRP is only $300. Paid $175. ESQ is a subsidiary of Movado.

Well, I am currently using Guess Collection and Armani watches, some are classy and formal, others are more casual and sporty. Although, I think I have enough, I am thinking of getting an Omega ... the bond one :)

I have not been able to keep watches. The usually quit working a month after I get it. I finally bought this Skagen in July: http://www.skagen.com/item/694XLTTM.fx
