Hey guys,
I've got a fancy dress party coming up next week. The theme is the 1990's.
I'm wondering how you would approach peacocking in such an environment?
Usually when I go fancy dress I go with humour being the overriding idea for me - and it gets lots of attention and is usually ridiculous, but its hardly 'sexy'. I'm not sure if it works for or against me - after all, its hard to get turned on by someone wearing the most ridiculous costume you've ever seen.

This is something i've been dealing with lately. A female friend suggested that I dress for the type of person I want to attract. If I want to attract a hot gucci chick then I gotta dress that way. If I want a goth chick then dress that way.

Either dress up to the full extreme or do something completely off topic.
I would avoid the humour theme, its not actually that funny. I always favour the sexy side, it works.

Wait, fancy dress in the 90's? Was there actually a defining factor for that decade in fancy dress?

Sure, but how would you do sexy in a costume from the 1990's?
Unfortunately I believe the dress code for the 1990's was shellsuits and Reebok Pump...

10pin,
just a story - not advice here.
Audrey Hepburn got her break, got noticed - by showing up to a fancy pants Hollywood party dressed in a simple, plain black dress. Everyone noticed her, and she caught the eye BECAUSE her normalcy was different.
food for thought,
cheers,

Sure thing, sting. In fact, that is of course one of the PUA's credo's - do the exact opposite of everyone else. I'm a year or two older than these girls so turning up in some smart ass stuff might be a good move.
It also gives me the 'out' to go elsewhere if its shit.
So that's one simple, plain black dress coming up...

Hasn't the fashion from the 90s pretty much carried through to present day? With the exception to shell suits and Reebok pump there's not much difference. I say don't do the fancy dress and you'll stand out... But at the same time you might come across as boring by not doing so. I'd go for the sexy approach!

Well, there was the swing fad in the nineties, goth got big, of course hip hop. Wear a zoot suit. If anyone says anything you can point out the movie mask, the swing dance craze or the latin gang thing. Of course you will be wearing a thirties outfit which was emulated in the nineties but hey thats fashion for ya.
